Arınç TATLITUĞ tarafından

According to a Euronews report published on 24 October 2025, Uzbekistan President Shavkat Mirziyoyev met with European Council President António Costa and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen in Brussels to sign the Enhanced Partnership and Cooperation Agreement (EPCA). The agreement replaces the previous Partnership and Cooperation Agreement signed between the European Union and Uzbekistan in 1996.

The agreement expands cooperation between the European Union and Uzbekistan in areas including political dialogue, trade, investment, research, sustainable development, and intellectual property. During the meetings, both sides also discussed cooperation in critical raw materials needed for ecological and digital transitions.

Mirziyoyev also met with executives from European companies and banks in Brussels. Trade volume between the European Union and Uzbekistan reached 4.8 billion euros last year, nearly doubling since 2020. In 2024, the European Union accounted for 10.4% of Uzbekistan’s trade, while 7.2% of the country’s exports went to EU member states, making the EU Uzbekistan’s second-largest export partner.
