The ETHEXPO Eurasia Tourism and Health Conference held in Istanbul has revived Turkey's emerging position in health tourism. Speaking at the conference, Tarık Sönmez, Director General of International Trade Services at the Ministry of Trade, emphasized Turkey's health tourism performance, noting that the country generates an average of $2,000 in revenue for each health tourist arriving in the country. This figure indicates that Turkey has become an international center, especially in medical tourism, in recent years.
During the presentations at the conference, it was underlined that the main factors making Turkey a destination of preference are the quality of medical services, cost benefits, and the rate of success of specialist physicians. Moreover, growing technological investments, the expansion of city hospitals, and better accessibility are making Turkey a strong medical destination in the region.
It was noted that ETHEXPO brought together industry professionals from different countries, paving the way for new collaborations. Attendees agreed that Turkey will continue to be a key player in medical tourism not only locally but also regionally and globally.
