A six-year-long civil war has led to the death of 233,000 people.
In a statement made by the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), it was said, "Approximately 233,000 people have lost their lives in Yemen due to the conflict since 2015."
The statement emphasized that the loss of life in Yemen due to the civil war has reached critical levels and underlined the need for an urgent ceasefire in the country. Another point mentioned in the statement is the level of hunger in the country. During this six-year civil war, approximately 131,000 people lost their lives due to hunger and inadequacies in the healthcare sector.
During this period, the local currency lost 250% of its value, which was primarily reflected in food prices and restricted transportation. The statement noted that the number of people within the aid scope, which was one million at the start of the conflict, has risen to 13 million. This serious increase has had very significant effects.
Due to this crisis, daily life in Yemen is becoming increasingly difficult.
