According to a Euronews report published on 7 April 2026,

Foreign direct investment in Spain declined significantly in 2025. Official data shows that investment fell by 21.8% compared to the previous year, reaching approximately 30.76 billion euros. This marks the lowest level since 2021 and reflects a slowdown in the country’s ability to attract foreign capital.

In comparison, foreign direct investment in Spain had reached 39.35 billion euros in the previous year. When taking into account investment withdrawals, the overall decline stood at around 10%. These figures indicate a notable decrease in investment flows into the country over the given period.

In terms of origin and regional distribution, the United States was the largest investor in Spain, contributing around 10 billion euros, particularly in technology and data center projects. It was followed by France, the United Kingdom, and Germany, while China ranked lower among investors. Madrid received the largest share of foreign investment, followed by Catalonia and Aragon.
