The plan focuses on four main projects: a Drone Defence Initiative, Eastern Flank Monitoring, Europe Air Shield, and Space Defence Shield. The goal is to fill gaps in defense, encourage joint procurement, and reduce dependence on external suppliers.

In Turkey, the Altay main battle tank is expected to begin service on 28 October 2025. A total of 250 tanks will be delivered in phases under the Altay project. The tank includes improved armor, active protection systems, modern fire control, and will use both imported and domestic engines in different versions. Turkey has already begun mass production of Altay at a new facility in Ankara.

Overall, Turkey’s defense industry is growing rapidly. Turkish arms exports reached USD 7.1 billion in 2024. The country now produces weapons for land, sea, and air, aiming for more self-reliance and international recognition. These developments show that both the European Union and Turkey see defense capability as critical for security and autonomy in coming years.

Europe and Türkiye Strengthen Defence for the Future

In recent years, global security challenges have increased. Both the European Union and Türkiye are taking important steps to improve their defence power. The EU has shared a new plan to make its defence system stronger by 2030, while Türkiye continues to grow its national defence industry.

The European Union’s roadmap focuses on building new projects such as the Drone Defence Initiative, the Europe Air Shield, and the Space Defence Shield. These programs will help Europe work together and reduce dependence on other countries.

At the same time, Türkiye is moving forward with its modern Altay main battle tank, which will enter service on 28 October 2025. Türkiye’s defence exports reached over 7 billion dollars in 2024. The country now produces many types of land, sea, and air weapons, showing strong progress toward self-sufficiency.

Both the EU and Türkiye understand that strong defence means strong independence. Their new investments in technology and production show a clear goal: to protect their people and play a more active role in global security.
