The International Organization for Migration (IOM) and the United Nations Volunteers (UNV) started a new project in Africa. This project wants to help migrants who return to their home countries.
Many people leave their countries to find work, safety, or a better life. After some time, some migrants decide to return home. When they return, life can be difficult. They may not have a job, money, or support. Some migrants feel alone, stressed, or worried about their future.
The new mentorship program gives each returning migrant a mentor. A mentor is a person who listens, helps, and gives simple advice. Mentors talk with migrants about their problems and needs. They help migrants understand what they can do and what opportunities they have.
The program also supports migrants in finding new chances for their life. Mentors guide them to look for jobs, training courses, or small business ideas. They also help migrants feel safe and welcome in their communities again.
IOM and UNV say that this project is important because it gives personal and friendly support. It helps migrants start a new and stable life. With a mentor, migrants can plan their future more easily and feel more confident. The goal of this project is to make returning home easier, safer, and more positive for all migrants.
