NATO and Bosnia and Herzegovina held a meeting on 6 May 2026 to discuss strengthening their cooperation in the areas of security, defense reforms, and regional stability. During the meeting in Brussels, NATO officials reaffirmed their strong support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The discussions mainly focused on improving the country’s defense capacity and continuing reform efforts within the armed forces. NATO emphasized the importance of increasing investment in defense and stated that it is ready to provide further support through its partnership programs. Officials also highlighted that stability in the Western Balkans remains essential for wider European and Euro-Atlantic security.
In addition, NATO welcomed the progress made under the Individual Tailored Partnership Programme, describing it as an important step in deepening relations between the two sides. Overall, the meeting demonstrated NATO’s commitment to maintaining stability in the region and supporting Bosnia and Herzegovina’s cooperation with Euro-Atlantic institutions.
