Rising Tensions Between Trump and Venezuela: Covert Operations and Military Preparations

Emel GEÇ tarafından

In recent months, relations between the United States and Venezuela have become increasingly tense.

U.S. President Donald Trump confirmed that he authorized the CIA to carry out covert operations inside Venezuela.

According to Trump, this decision aims to fight drug trafficking and protect U.S. national security.

However, the announcement has caused major international concern.

As reported by Reuters and BBC News, the U.S. government has not only given intelligence authority but has also expanded its military presence in the region.

Warships, aircraft, and special forces have been deployed in the Caribbean Sea and near Venezuelan coasts.

While Washington claims these missions are part of an “anti-drug campaign,” analysts believe they could be part of a larger military preparation.

The Venezuelan government considers this move a direct violation of its sovereignty.

President Nicolás Maduro accused the United States of seeking a regime change and called on the United Nations Security Council to declare the U.S. operations “illegal.”

Despite these accusations, the U.S. insists that its actions only target “criminal networks” and are aimed at improving regional security.

Nevertheless, many questions remain unanswered — such as who the real targets are, what evidence supports these operations, and whether they comply with international law.

Experts warn that these actions could lead to serious diplomatic and legal consequences.

The situation, though not yet an open war, reflects a growing military and political confrontation between the two nations.

Observers believe this escalation could destabilize Latin America and mark a new phase of U.S. pressure on Venezuela.
