France Steps In to Restart Nuclear Dialogue with Iran

France will host the Iranian Foreign Minister in Paris this week, and the stalled nuclear talks are expected to be among the talks. This situation is expected to draw the attention of the US and Israel. 

French Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Barrot confirmed that his Iranian counterpart, Abbas Araghchi, will visit Paris on Wednesday. Paris hopes these talks will return Iran to full cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) under the annulled nuclear agreement. I believe that if this happens, France is attempting to gain power and influence in the Middle East through Iran. 

Before the meeting, Barrot said: "This will be an opportunity for us to urge Iran to fulfill its obligations to the IAEA and to demand the swift resumption of cooperation with the agency. However, one of the reasons for this French aid to Iran is that two French citizens in Iran will be pressured to come to Paris from the French embassy in Tehran." 

No matter how much France tries to pave the way, the United States will likely not allow Iran to acquire nuclear weapons or power. Knowing that this could cause problems for American political and state policy, the United States will do everything in its power to prevent this, just as it has done in the past. 

For example, US President Donald Trump unilaterally withdrew from the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), a 2018 agreement signed between the US, Iran, France, Germany, Russia, the UK, China, and the European Union, which envisioned sanctions relief in exchange for Tehran curbing its nuclear program. Both sides are still disobeying the agreement and pursuing their own course.
