Palestine: Bi-weekly Situation Report

In the last two weeks, the situation in the Gaza Strip and the occupied West Bank has remained very difficult. According to recent international news reports and humanitarian updates, several important developments have taken place. 

1. Humanitarian Conditions and Casualties 

Severe winter weather made the situation worse for families living in tents in Gaza. Heavy rain and storms caused many shelters to collapse, and several people — including children — lost their lives (Al Jazeera, 2025). 

UN agencies also reported that thousands of children in Gaza were treated for acute malnutrition. Limited access to food, clean water, and healthcare continues to create serious risks for young children (The Guardian, 2025). 

2. Political and Settlement Developments 

The Israeli government approved nearly 800 new housing units in settlements in the occupied West Bank. Many international observers criticized this decision, saying it makes future peace efforts more difficult (Reuters, 2025). 

Humanitarian organizations such as UNRWA continue to publish reports showing large-scale displacement, shortages of basic services, and ongoing humanitarian needs (UNRWA, 2025). 

3. Overall Impact 

The situation continues to attract global attention. Issues such as child malnutrition, civilian casualties, and the expansion of West Bank settlements are at the center of international discussions (The Guardian, 2025).
