Turkey Strengthens Its Defence: Steel Dome, TF-2000 and Exports

Recently, Turkish firms signed $6.5 billion in contracts to strengthen the new multi-layered air-defence system called Steel Dome. The project uses many components — radars, missiles, sensors and command-and-control centres — all to be made in Turkey. This shows that Turkey wants to depend less on other countries for defence gear.
At the same time, the country started building its first home-made air-defence destroyer, the TF-2000 Air Defense Destroyer. The first metal block of the ship is now under construction at Istanbul Naval Shipyard. This warship will join the Steel Dome project and help defend both sea and land from missile or air attacks.
Meanwhile, Turkey’s defence exports are rising strongly. The defence and aerospace industry now exports items whose value per kilogram is about $67, much higher than Turkey’s general export average of about $1.5 per kg. Some companies even reach higher values, showing that Turkey is making high-tech and high-value products, not just basic goods.
Also, Turkey is expanding its drone production. For example, it developed a new kamikaze-drone called SKYDAGGER TOYCA 05 with modern features. This shows the defence industry is not only building big systems, but also investing in new technologies.
In short: by building the Steel Dome, producing the TF-2000 destroyer, increasing exports and developing advanced drones — Turkey is growing a more independent and modern defence industry. This helps to ensure national security and also gives Turkey a stronger place in the international defence market.
