Russia issues statement warning of risks of clash between nuclear powers

On 24 February 2026, Russia’s Foreign Ministry issued a statement warning about the risk of a direct military clash between nuclear powers. The ministry said that a conflict between states with nuclear weapons could have extremely serious consequences.

The statement followed a claim made by Russia’s Foreign Intelligence Service. The intelligence service said that Britain and France were preparing to secretly provide Ukraine with parts and technology related to nuclear weapons. Russia did not present any evidence to support this claim.

France responded to the accusation and denied it clearly. The United Kingdom did not immediately comment on the allegation. Russia’s Foreign Ministry made its warning in this context and stressed the dangers of direct confrontation between nuclear-armed states.
