Anti-Migration Protesters Gather At Council Office

According to a BBC report dated 5 October 2025, an anti-immigration protest took place in Gloucester. Approximately 75 demonstrators marched to the Gloucestershire County Council offices to oppose the use of two local hotels as accommodation facilities for asylum seekers. The protesters voiced concerns related to national identity, security and the potential strain on public services. Some participants argued that immigration threatens traditional British culture, while others claimed that inadequately vetted migrants place additional pressure on key institutions such as healthcare.

The protest also triggered a counter-demonstration consisting of around 200 individuals who assembled to challenge anti-immigration rhetoric. Spivey reiterated respect for the right to peaceful protest while noting that council employees work diligently to provide essential public services.
