Migration Crises and Responsibility of Pictures: Willpower or Lack of Mechanism?

Hazal DOĞRU tarafından

Although migration is a survival strategy for humanity, mass migration movements today create both humanitarian and political crises. Many factors such as wars, climate change, poverty and ethnic diversity make it difficult for people to migrate everywhere. However, the increase in these large migration movements at the international level and the reactions of states are often inadequate. In this article, we will discuss the reasons why birth crises remain unresolved and the responsibilities of states for this climate.

Increasing Causes of Migration and Structural Problems

The increasing causes of migration are generally shaped by old factors such as wars and political pressures, as well as new threats. In particular, climate change causes agriculture to become inefficient and drought to deplete, causing people to leave their homes everywhere. According to Karpat (2023), these new migration dynamics are managed by the existing administration of the international system, and as a result, the number of migrations is rapidly increasing.

Where is the Sharing of Responsibility Between Pictures?

Students' decisions on the acceptance of immigrants are usually based on national security concerns. The European Union transfers the Dublin System to Southern European countries between immigration, which reveals Europe's unfair approach to sharing responsibilities (Baban, Ilcan & Rygiel, 2017). However, unless such systems provide a fair solution, the problems of immigrants deepen. These national, national interests and security freedoms, citizens' rights are in the background.

Inadequacy of International Mechanisms and Political Selectivity

International organizations such as the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) are working to cope with migration crises, and current structures are often limited by the shaping of states' interests and policies, and the prevention of humanitarian interventions. Betts and Collier (2017) state that they do not cover climate countries, especially those with suitable conditions for refugees fleeing war and suffering, and this creates a serious legal gap.

The Turkish Experience: A Mixed Model

Turkey has faced a major wave of migration after the Syrian civil war and is hosting 3.5 million Syrians. Although Türkiye’s open door policy has offered a humanitarian approach, it can also be on your side in integration. İçduygu (2016) states that Turkey has experienced difficulties in sharing the burden between states in this process and that the readmission agreements made with the European Union have only followed a temporary solution. Europe’s failure to share the responsibility means that Turkey is left alone and no permanent solutions are being developed for migrants.

Conclusion: Lack of Both Will and Mechanism

One of the main reasons why migration crises are not resolved is that the state prioritizes its national interests, security concerns and concerns about public health. International systems need a more effective and liberal governance model in order to cooperate at the global level. This process will be possible not only with the progress of its development, but also with states fulfilling their international responsibilities.
